Book Fulfillment Process

We want as many kids as possible in New York City to have books that they want to read. If you are part of an organization, educator, or even a neighbor who wants to get more books into children’s and adolescents’ homes, please reach out to us. We will give you books so that you can host your own book giveaway. We have new, like-new, and gently-used books for children, adolescents, and teenagers.

Brooklyn Book Bodega provides books to individuals, schools, and community members for personal and educational use. Books are not to be resold or used for other purposes. Additional labels or stickers should not be added to the provided books. During the term of your book giveaway, you may use Brooklyn Book Bodega's name and logo to promote your book giveaway and for no other purpose.

Our books are never for purchase or sale, so these books should not be tied to entrance fees/purchases or used as prizes given only to certain individuals who complete an activity. There should be no quid pro quo attached to your book giveaway.

After completing your book request form, we will get in touch with you to arrange for you to pick up your books. Expect a minimum of 4 weeks for us to process your request.

About Us

Brooklyn Book Bodega is a nonprofit working diligently to ensure that all kids have access to books that they want to read. We are so thankful to all the people, organizations, and businesses that help us make this happen through their monetary and in-kind donations. It takes a HUGE amount of time, energy, effort, and love to get books into your hands so that you can get them to families and children who want them.

By receiving books from Brooklyn Book Bodega, you are considered an important member of our large and growing community. Read on so that you understand our book fulfillment process and are equipped to make the impact and community even stronger.

Step 1: Receiving Books

Here are the steps to get books for your community. BY WORKING TOGETHER, WE ARE INCREASING THE NUMBER OF 100+ BOOK HOMES IN NYC FOR KIDS 0-18.

  1. You complete a book request form (you already did this!).

  2. We respond via email or phone call within 3-5 business days and schedule an appointment at our book hub in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, 141 Flushing Avenue, Suite 407. We discuss the two ways in which you might receive books (1) you self select the books or (2) our volunteers select and pack the books for you. This is dependent on our availability, staffing, and the number of books. Appointments are typically scheduled 1-2 weeks after we receive your request.

  3. We share this page which explains the Book Fulfillment Process (receiving books and follow up tasks). We require an acknowledgement receipt via email to continue in the process.

  4. You receive a parking pass to enter the Brooklyn Navy Yard. If you are self-selecting books for your community, you will have a 45 minute appointment. You may bring one other person with you (age 13+). Children under 13 are not allowed in the Book Hub.
